This is the largest church in Seville, second only to the Cathedral. Construction began in 1674 under the watchful eye of architect Esteban García, although work was completed in 1712 using the designs of Leonardo de Figueroa. Built atop the site of the former Central Mosque (Mezquita Mayor), the only remaining building is Patio de Abluciones and the base of the tower.
