Located inside Seville’s Golden Tower (Torre del Oro) is the Maritime Museum, which exhibits sea charts, engravings, antique model boats and priceless documents from the period. The Golden Tower was built in the early part of the 13th Century, right in the middle of the period of the "Taifas". Its name in Arabic was Borg-al-Azajal, which came from the fact that the outer layer of gilt tiles sparkled like gold in the sun, reflecting onto the river, and thus hampering the view.
