Located beneath the present day Plaza de la Seo, the museum is mostly home to archaeological remains from two periods: the most ancient, dating from the rule of the Emperor Augustus, has the remains of an old market; the other, thirty years later during the rule of Emperor Tiberius, has remains of a spacious forum and outbuildings. The museum, displaying its collection of furniture and architectural remains, focuses on the daily events that went on in and around the Roman forum.
